They chose this town in Seville for a summer getaway and were delighted: "Although it may seem like a winter destination..."

When thinking about summer getaway destinations, the province of Seville doesn't usually top the list . The high temperatures, which often reach or exceed 40 degrees , drive many travelers to prefer coastal destinations, escaping the stifling heat of inland Andalusia. However, there are corners of this province that hold pleasant surprises , even in the hottest months.

This is what two sisters can confirm when they decided to organize a summer getaway to a Sevillian town where they were enchanted by their accommodation, the local gastronomy, and the town's heritage. It is, nothing more and nothing less, than Estepa . "Although at first it may seem more like a winter destination because of the mantecados , the truth is that it is just over an hour from Marbella, Málaga, and Ronda," says Belén Tobajas in one of her TikTok videos (@betobajas) that she recorded during her getaway to this Sevillian town.

Two sisters choose Estepa for a summer getaway and are delighted

"Welcome to the house where my sister and I stayed this weekend in Estepa," says Belén shortly before showing them the accommodation they stayed in during their stay in this town in the province of Seville. What was in the kitchen already gave an idea of the most famous product of this place: "The kitchen is super nice, with everything you need, so it lacks absolutely nothing. Obviously, of course, Estepa mantecados, which you have to try ," she points out. Another great feature of the accommodation for the warmer months is that "it has barbecue facilities. It's also perfect for summer because it has a small pool where you can cool off and the chill-out area ."

From a culinary standpoint, for the first dinner of this getaway, "we met two girls and they told us that the bar 'La Esquina' was their favorite." After their visit there, Belén commented in another video that "all we could get were tapas that were around three to five euros, and they were quite large . There were tons of options to choose from and the food was super Costa Rican, so typical homemade. The whisky sirloin was incredible, my favorite dish. For dessert, we went to the ice cream shop next door for ice cream, and we loved it too. I had Jungly white chocolate and white Filipino ice cream. Everything was super good."

These sisters also had time to explore Estepa: "If nothing else, there are hills to climb for a while," Belén said first, before going on to comment on the stops they made and the places they visited. "We arrived at the Cerro de San Cristóbal area and the first thing we did was go to the information point because we're a bit geeky and we like to see everything. We walked around the area and there was a monastery with a very pretty courtyard where they sold sweets. We continued walking past the façade of the Alcázar and this is the Torre del Homenaje (Keep Tower ). Most of the monuments were closed in summer, but we took the opportunity to see the ' Balcón de Andalucía ' (Balcony of Andalusia), which has impressive views of the town. Going down, we saw Estepa's most characteristic tower, the Torre de la Victoria (Tower of Victory), which formerly belonged to a church. The Archaeological Museum was open and cost 2.20 per person, so we went in to learn about the town's history."

Continuing her route through Estepa, Belén continued by saying that "there was a wedding at the Parish of San Sebastián and my sister started gossiping. We continued on to the Town Hall , which was opposite the Plaza del Carmen , and this façade of the church next to it was the one I liked the most. It was quite warm, though."

Finally, for their last night, "we went out for something nice to eat, this time at ' A KIKO'n los Nuestros '. It was beautifully decorated with lights on the tables. The food was delicious and had some pretty original tapas. We really liked the cod, the pork cheeks, and the tuna we ordered; for dessert, we had lemon pie."
